In 2020, Cowart invented a new medium all together and coined the term “Lightograph” to describe it. In his words, it means “the evolution of light through a still photograph”. It it not a video because there is no motion. It is not a photograph because the analog light is changing.
To take it a step further, Cowart decided to make them interactive and mint them as NFTs. If you move your cursor (or finger on mobile) over the images on this page, you will notice you are controlling the analog light in the portraits.
To date, Cowart has only minted 4 Lightographs on SuperRare with his latest Lightograph being featured at the 2022 Fall Phillips Auction in London, alongside photography greats like Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon and more.
