Art matters.
It can give a voice to those who are not being heard. It can open eyes and allow someone to experience the plight of another person in a deep, visceral way. It has the power to heal and change lives.
I started my photographic series “Enchanted Sleep” to dramatize the effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome…which I live with every day. CFS is a little-known and very misunderstood illness. But through “Enchanted Sleep,” I try to help the viewer comprehend firsthand just how devastating and destructive CFS is.
To bring much-needed attention to CFS, as well as to assist in research about the illness, I am holding a fundraiser called “Strength for the Weary.” Throughout the summer, I will be donating 50 percent of my profits from print sales and enrollments in my on-line photography class “Introspective” to CFIDS, a wonderful group researching CFS.
I often feel very helpless in dealing with CFS. As if the constant, bone-crushing weariness and omnipresent pain it brings is not enough, we must also contend with people who think CFS suffers are just being lazy or doctors who have no idea how to treat our condition… if they admit it exists at all. But despite all of that, I have to strive to change the world, validate this disease and bring help to everyone suffering from it. I have to hope.
I am only one person, rather small and quiet. But with your help, I can roar loudly enough to shatter walls. Please visit my site to see how you can join the fight.
We can change the world together.

Great series and great work brining CFS to the masses.
