This post isn’t about a project I’m launching, nor is it about using your mind creatively.

This is about an idea … an idea of hope.

I am a HUGE believer that everything in the world is in some form, contagious. Whether it be physical, mental or emotional, in this case, you could say it was all three.

My story is about my two trips I made to Haiti. One in November of 2010 and one in April of 2012.

Here is an excerpt from the story that was posted from my blog:

14 months prior, I was in a really weird time in my life. Wasn’t sure what to do, and wasn’t sure that this camera was the answer.

I had bought my first camera and jumped into the scary world of photography. I quickly got a few small jobs and naively thought that I could turn this into a business. It was simple, right?… Wrong!

Months would go by, and little to no work would come in. But with all the struggles, I promised myself I would never give up.

In March of 2010, oddly enough while working a job that wasn’t photography, I met someone who travelled to Haiti twice a year with a group that builds schools and does all they can to help. I asked if I could go on a trip with them, and it was that easy. I was scheduled to go in November.

Again, months would go by and I wasn’t getting much work at all. I was putting my time into advertising, learning and doing my best to get my name out there. Again, still not giving up cause I truly believed in myself. I had no idea about the world of volunteering as this would be my first time I had ever done something like this. I was a little rattled when I found out it would cost just under $2000 to go.

It was now November of 2010 and I was on route to Haiti.

The feedback I’ve got so far, is that many people have been inspired after watching the video. Inspired to take action and want to make a difference. This really got me thinking about the whole contagious theory I base everything on. Maybe the reason I do all this work is because I witnessed somebody doing this, and it got buried in my subconscious and noticed how much of a difference it not only made in their life, but the person they were helping. My hope is to spread the word on how positivity can influence others without them even realizing it.

I need no credit for anything about this video. If my face was blurred I know 100 percent I would still be writing this. If you look for credit, you strive for money. If you look for love, you strive for change. Nothing makes me feel better than to see the negativity get washed away buy someone being influenced by something they read, seen or experienced.

To love, we need to fill our hearts with love.

It’s funny, I went down to Haiti to help, and it was ME that ended up getting the help. It’s unreal how life works sometimes.
