There are 2 reasons I suggest you use Pinterest.
1. I’ve always recommended that visual artists build a physical inspiration board. Magazine clippings, photos, whatever. We need to have a place where we can combine the things that inspire us. People always ask “how do I find my vision?” Well, start with collecting the things that inspire you and then figure out how you can put your own spin on that collection.
Pinterest is the modern day version of the inspiration board.
2. I’ve always hated that Twitter and Facebook, many times, becomes a place where photographers discuss anything BUT photography. I’ve always wished that we were all discussing the greatest work out there. But sadly, that rarely happens. Pinterest removes the chatter and ONLY focuses on the greatest work out there. I love that. That’s the way it should be for visual artists. It challenges me daily and holds me accountable to keep creating.
So that being said, here is my Pinterest page. No desserts. No recipes. No fluff. Just awesome work.
And yes, I’m still a dude. I still watch the NFL and crap like that. Don’t hate.
Love pintrest. It's great to keep me moving and taking photos. Love seeing all the variety of work there. (comment section is screwy on iPad)
P.S. The caps were not intentional seems my computer is out of sorts. @Josh~well I guess you can just keep following Jeremy and let him weed through all the bad. Finding inspiration can be a lot of work but that's the fun part and sometimes its nor particulary photography that inspires but a pop of color on a color board. Inspiration knows no bounds. Embrace it all, the good and the bad....lol;)
Yeah, I know you can do searches, but it's still a lot of wading through. I guess I look for general photography inspiration on there rather than specific cool objects or whatever. I'm looking for images that look good overall, which is hard to find through just a search since people label things as "good" or "incredible" even when they're not.
MAY i SUGGEST FOR THOSE SAYING THEY CANNOT FIND INSPIRING THINGS THROUGH ALL THE CLUTTER. yOU CAN DO SPECIFIC SEARCHES WITH WORDS OF THINGS THAT INSPIRE YOU ei: bOWTIES. aLSO SAY YOU ARE CRUISING THE INTERNET AND YOU COME ACROSS SOMETHING PIN WORTHY OUTSIDE OF PINTEREST YOU CAN PIN IT TO YOUR BOARD FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. tHERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF WAYS TO USE IT. i AM SURPRISED i AM HAVING TO GIVE OPTION TO YOU CREATIVE MINDS...i KID;)
I just started using Pinterest and was having to wade through a bunch of less than inspiring stuff, thanks for some good stuff to pin. As far as you being a dude... meh... :D
My only issue with Pinterest is how much noise and clutter there is. Not enough sorting options catered to finding actually good stuff. Unless I'm missing something? Just too much of a time-sucker because of the clutter. I would totally use it more if it were easier to find inspiration.
I've steered clear of Pinterest mainly because of my fellow stock photographers hatred of it, but you make a great point. I think I'll take a look. My wife and daughters will be so proud :)
